Photo Library

Photo Library turns a local image folder into searchable metadata without changing the image pixels. It is built into the HivemindOS desktop app and does not require Python, a source checkout, or a separate Lightroom plugin.

Open More → Photo Library, choose a folder, and connect either OpenAI or OpenRouter in the same view. HivemindOS inventories subfolders first so you can see the image count, archive size, and any camera formats that need an additional decoder before starting.

What leaves your machine

The source files stay in place. For each selected photo, HivemindOS creates or reads a display-sized preview and sends that one preview to the vision provider you chose. It does not upload the entire folder. Provider processing and retention are governed by that provider and your account settings.

Use a small representative test limit before indexing a large archive. A useful concert/festival test includes day and night, stage and audience, wide and close shots, backstage or setup, motion blur, signage, and at least one non-event image.

Review and resume

Each durable job records completed files and resumes without re-billing unchanged photos analyzed with the same provider and model. You can stop safely, leave the view, and reopen a job from Recent archives.

Low-confidence or ambiguous results enter the review queue. You can edit titles, descriptions, flat keywords, and Lightroom keyword hierarchy before approval. The model is instructed not to guess identities or sensitive personal traits.

XMP export

Export safe copy writes approved XMP sidecars to HivemindOS application state. This is the default for review and DAM import testing.

Write beside originals requires confirmation and writes a sidecar beside each source photo. HivemindOS will update a sidecar it generated itself, but refuses to replace unrelated or hand-authored XMP. It never embeds metadata into the source image.

Test a small adjacent export in Lightroom, Peakto, or your other DAM before writing a six-figure archive.

Supported formats

JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF work directly. macOS can render additional formats through its system image decoder. On Windows and Linux, install ImageMagick from the in-place decoder setup when RAW, HEIC, TIFF, or BMP files are present.
