HivemindOS manual
Fleet
Fleet is the home screen for your hive. It shows the computers you have connected, the agents available on each one, what is online now, and what needs your attention.
Start here when an agent is missing, work needs to run on a particular machine, or you want to use an app or service hosted elsewhere in your hive.
What You Can Do
- See this computer and every trusted remote machine in one view.
- Check whether a machine, its HivemindOS connection, and its agents are ready.
- Open an agent’s settings or start a conversation with it.
- Add another machine or repair one whose setup is incomplete.
- Update HivemindOS on a remote machine when that action is available.
- Browse allowed folders on a remote machine before assigning work there.
- Open apps and services that are running across your hive.
- See active work and important alerts without opening each machine separately.
Read A Machine Card
Each card answers four questions:
- Is the machine online? An offline machine cannot accept new work until it reconnects.
- Is HivemindOS ready there? A computer can be online while its local HivemindOS helper still needs setup or repair.
- Which agents are available? Agents belong to a machine and may use different runtimes or models.
- What can this machine do? File access, app discovery, model hosting, and remote actions depend on the permissions and services enabled for that machine.
If a card says Needs setup or Needs attention, use the action on that card. HivemindOS opens the relevant setup or repair flow without making you leave Fleet.
Add Another Computer
Use the add-machine action in Fleet and follow the guided setup on the target computer. The new machine appears once its connection is approved and its HivemindOS helper reports ready.
HivemindOS supports private connections between your machines. You do not need to expose a dashboard or machine service to the public internet. If the new machine appears but stays unreachable, see Troubleshooting.
Choose Where Work Runs
An agent normally runs on the machine shown with it. Choose a machine based on what the task needs:
- Use this computer for local files and interactive work.
- Use another trusted computer when the project or required app lives there.
- Use a machine with a suitable local model or GPU for heavier local inference.
- Use a managed cloud agent when the work must continue while your computers are off.
Machine permissions can limit what an agent may do remotely. A task may therefore ask for approval even when the same action is allowed locally. See Fleet machine permissions for advanced controls.
Apps And Services In Your Hive
Open More → Apps & Services to see compatible apps and APIs found on connected machines. Normal apps open directly. Service cards show what the service offers and whether it is healthy, so you can tell the difference between an app you can open and a capability an agent can call.
Discovery does not grant an agent permission to use every service. Account connections, machine permissions, task approvals, and the service’s own authorization still apply.
What Stays Under Your Control
- A machine joins only after setup and connection approval.
- Remote file browsing is limited to the folders that machine allows.
- Consequential remote actions can be set to allow, ask, or deny.
- Private fleet connections are not a reason to publish local services to the internet.
- Removing or disconnecting a machine stops new remote work; it does not erase that machine’s local files.
Next: work with agents, sync trusted machines, or fix a connection problem.
